If you want a reliable piece of headgear for your stick, TIG, MIG, and plasma welding and cutting, the Antra AH7-860-001X has you covered (literally). It gives you all the safety you need at a very reasonable price of about $100.

This AH7 model has four sensors that will detect the light conditions in your work area. It’s also a little faster than the first model we looked, responding within 1/30,000 of a second.

While perfectly good for welding, the speed was specifically tailored for grinding, where you can’t look away from what you’re doing to wait for the helmet to respond.

You can also fit this AH7 with magnifying and cheater lenses to make you job a little easier. The viewing window is about 3 3/4 by 3 ½ inches. That’s large enough to get a good view of what you’re working on and stay safe with a picture of what’s going around you. .

You can replace the solar cell battery and adjust the power off delay setting if you want to. It’s 10 minutes by default.

Again, very much like the other top models on this list, the Antra AH6-260-0000 lands at the bottom for two reasons. First, it has the smallest viewing window (only 3 ¾ by 1 3/4 inches.) Second, it doesn’t look very cool compared to the others you can buy.

That being said, it will still keep you just as safe, and it does for less than $50. With four sensors that respond in 1/25,000 of a second, a knob to adjust the sensitivity and delay, and the versatility to use any type of lens you want for any welding, grinding, or cutting job you need to do, it makes a very good and durable model.

One thing we should also mention is that this model, as well as all the others above it are also hard hat compatible.

This is the basic design of the Antra AH6-360-001X that you can get for about $50. But don’t worry; you can soup it up with neat artwork for about $10 more. Right now, they have 5 different designs to choose from as well as a basic model that has mesh sides to keep you a little cooler.

It’s very similar to the model above for about half the price. The most notable differences are that that the Optical Class is a little lower (1/1/1/2) and the view window is smaller (approximately 3 ¾ by 2 inches). It has the same four auto darkening sensors that work within 1/25,000 of a second.  

You can use different types of lenses on the helmet and the power off delay is 10 minutes. The knob on the side controls sensitivity and delay.

Overall, it’s a great buy for a slightly older, slightly lower rated model.

The sensors darken the TOP Optical Class lens automatically within 1/25,000 of a second. That means that you won’t even notice the flash of light. The LCS Shade display will always provide the best view for your safety and visibility.

Besides welding, this is a great helmet to use for cutting and grinding metal. It’s also extremely lightweight, so you won’t have any neck fatigue at the end of your shift. There’s nothing like getting off work and still feeling loose, right?

You can turn it off and on manually. When you turn it off, it will delay for half an hour, just to be sure you’re out of the work area. The filters says on for another 30 minutes after that.

This helmet also comes with the additional feature of a fully customizable LCD that will memorize the last setting used so that you don't have to adjust it everytime you put it on. The price for this top Antra helmet is only $130, a great deal for such a high-quality, durable helmet.

Getting the top plasma cutter is very a great investment for your work than getting an aftermarket since you are sure of its quality.

The AH7-360-7311 is another great helmet from Antra that is very similar to the AH6 we just looked at and the AH7s above. It MIGs, it TIGS, it cuts, it grinds (well, it doesn’t, but it will protect you while you do all those things).

It has the same four sensors we’ve come to expect with auto darkening capability in 1/25,000 of a second. It has the smaller viewing size, which though we call it small, is still industry standard. It’s only small compared to the larger view windows of the first two models on this list.

It also features the 10-minute power off delay, knob adjustments, and lens compatibility. It costs more than the AH6, probably because of the sweet paint job.
